Southern National Motorsports Park opened in 1993 in Lucama, North Carolina. Scott Riggs won the first two championships in the Late Model Stock Car division in 1993 and 1994. The track joined NASCAR in 1998 as a member track in what is now the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The Thanksgiving Classic was established the same year. The facility closed after the 2008 season and remained dormant from 2009 through 2011.
Michael Diaz and Jerry Brown purchased the track for $650,000 in 2011 and reopened it in February 2012. Notable alumni include Denny Hamlin, who logged his first asphalt laps there in the mid 1990s. The 2022 Thanksgiving Classic paid $50,000 to win, making it the richest Late Model Stock race in history. In 2025, the track partnered with Florence Motor Speedway to become an outlaw, unsanctioned track featuring an eight-race championship series.
Located in Lucama, North Carolina, between Raleigh and Greenville, the 0.4-mile asphalt oval features 17 degrees of banking in turns and 7 degrees on straightaways. The track is 70 feet wide with a capacity of 4,500.
Southern National Motorsports Park hosts the Thanksgiving Classic, CARS Tour, SMART Modified Tour, Carolina Pro Late Model Series, and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly racing. The track hosted its first ARCA Menards Series East race in 2021.
