Florence Motor Speedway opened in 1982 in Timmonsville, South Carolina. Steve Zacharias purchased the facility in 2020 following the closure of Myrtle Beach Speedway. The track is known as the Diamond of the Southeast. The 0.4 mile paved oval features progressive banking in the corners. Uniquely, the track has no outside wall except on the frontstretch in front of the grandstands.
Located at 836 East Smith Street in Timmonsville, South Carolina, about 15 miles south of Darlington Raceway on U.S. Route 76, the facility is accessible from South Carolina Highway 403, known as Cale Yarborough Highway.
Florence Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly racing. The season begins each February with the IceBreaker and runs through November. Divisions include Late Model Stocks, Super Trucks, Limited Late Models, and Mini Stocks. The track hosts the annual South Carolina 400, a 250 lap event paying $10,000 to win. The race is the spiritual successor to the Myrtle Beach 400, which was held from 1993 to 2019. Winners of the South Carolina 400 receive a commemorative palm tree displayed on the property.
