Newport Speedway

Newport Speedway was built in 1977 as a dirt track in Newport, Tennessee. The facility was paved in 1988 and became a 0.4 mile high banked oval with 26 degrees of banking. The track became known as Little Bristol. Weekly racing ran through the 2017 season before the speedway closed. Chuck Ward purchased the property and adjacent salvage yard on April 1, 2024, and began extensive renovations.

Hurricane Helene delayed the reopening, which occurred in late 2024, making it the first racing at the facility in seven years. A previous Newport Speedway, a 0.5 mile dirt oval at the Tennessee Carolina Fairgrounds, hosted two NASCAR Grand National races in 1956 and 1957, both won by Fireball Roberts, before closing in 1967.

Located on Industrial Road in Newport, Tennessee, the 0.4 mile paved oval features tiered parking on each end, providing trackside viewing. The facility has a seating capacity of 4,000, LED lighting, premium sound system, concessions, a playground, and Turn 3 spotter tower.

Newport Speedway hosts weekly racing and special events. The track serves as the only operating paved oval between Nashville and the Tri-Cities region of Tennessee. During Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, the speedway provided staging areas for supplies and camping space for law enforcement and rescue workers.
