Anderson Motor Speedway was built by Rupert Porter and a business partner and opened in 1968 in Williamston, South Carolina. Construction was partially funded by selling dirt excavated from the site to the state of South Carolina for Interstate 85 construction. Rupert Porter passed away nearly 10 years ago. The track is currently operated by Shirley and Sylvia Porter, who have run the facility as a family business. The speedway is known as the Supertrack of the Carolinas.
Located at 313 Irby Road in Williamston, South Carolina, about 35 minutes from Seneca, the 0.375-mile asphalt oval features wide straightaways and tight corners. The facility offers concrete seating, concessions, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
Anderson Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly Friday night racing featuring Late Models, Modifieds, Mini Stocks, Legends, and Pure Stock divisions. The track hosts SMART Modified Tour events and special events, including Night of Destruction. The speedway holds an annual Shriners race benefiting the children’s hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
