Ace Speedway

Ace Speedway opened in 1956 when Roy Maddren carved a 0.333 mile dirt track called Southern Speedway near the Altamahaw waterfall in Alamance County, North Carolina. The track was expanded to 0.375 mile in 1984. In 1990, Fred and Jim Turner paved the facility and it became NASCAR Winston Racing Series sanctioned. Barry Beggarly won the 1993 National NASCAR Championship racing at Ace.

In 1999, new owner David Morton undertook a $600,000 expansion, lengthening the track to 0.400 mile, completely repaving it, and banking the turns to 12 degrees. Abraham Woidislawsky purchased the speedway in 2006 for $2.1 million. Former competitors Robert and Jason Turner acquired the facility in 2017. In late 2024, former Ace racer David Sell came on board as General Manager. The speedway returned to NASCAR sanction in 2025.

Located at 3401 Altamahaw-Race Track Road in Altamahaw near Elon, North Carolina, the 0.400 mile asphalt oval features 12 degrees of banking and seating for 5,000 fans. The facility includes a go-kart track, tractor pull strip, and mud bog track.

Ace Speedway hosts NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly Friday night racing from March through October. Divisions include Late Models, Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Mini Stocks, UCAR, INEX Legends, and Champ Karts. The track hosts CARS Tour events and special events including tractor pulls, concerts, and car shows.
